Hamburg, DE
office & commercial
Located in the heart of Hamburg, the KALEIDO office stands out for its contemporary architecture and bright, open spatial character. Its interior is designed according to the concept of a democratic, inclusive work environment that ensures comfort and flexibility for all users. Situated on prestigious Peltzestrasse, just a few minutes’ walk from the city hall, the office occupies a new-build property whose architectural façades and large floor-to-ceiling windows informed the internal spatial solutions. The project aimed to realise the client’s vision of a democratic, open workspace accessible to all employees, where natural light and spatial clarity become defining elements. The client’s aspiration to remain visible and open to the public transformed into a light-filled, transparent, and visually unobstructed interior. The 160 m² office consists of a multifunctional workspace organically connected to a lounge area and an enclosed kitchenette. Compact auxiliary spaces include a cloakroom and storage areas, while sanitary facilities are located on the second floor. The main workspace is separated from two meeting rooms by an integrated wall-cabinet that accommodates the archive, office inventory, and features a fold-out screen for meetings and events. At the client’s request, a projector with a virtual golf simulation function was also installed. The layout eliminates corridors to shorten circulation paths and maximise the use of natural light. The office concept is based on the idea of shared workspaces: a single large desk for eight workstations unites the team and encourages direct communication. A three-level staircase leading to the work area creates a sense of elevation, while the raised platform not only allows for working at different heights – sitting or standing – but also conceals the heating and ventilation systems. Mobile workstations make it easy for employees to change their seating according to workflow or mood. The result is a modern, bright, and flexible workspace that meets the client’s aspiration to be visible, open, and comfortable within a shared environment.
